Al and Kelley’s son Brian played varsity soccer for three years at DeMatha and this past spring graduated with high honors. This fall Brian entered Dayton University on both an academic and athletic scholarship. Reflecting on the influence that DeMatha had on her son’s life, Kelley recently indicated, in part:
DeMatha exceeded our expectations. The faculty and staff are its strongest component. When the students know that someone truly cares about them, they will jump through hoops for that person. Throughout Brian’s four years at DeMatha he experienced such a motivating force. Brian was challenged to do his best academically, athletically and as a citizen. Many of these individuals went well beyond simply being teachers. They served as wonderful, positive, role models, who have influenced and impacted Brian’s life greatly. Early on, we came to recognize that DeMatha was far more than simply a high school This was going to be an experience at a whole different level. DeMatha, became part of our family and played a vital role in guiding Brian through those all-important formative years… DeMatha’s mission is to create “gentlemen & scholars” and this they do well. They also foster and promote relationships which I am sure will last a lifetime. For all of this, we are most grateful.
